Binary Transmissions over Additive Gaussian Noise: A Closed-Form Expression for the Channel Capacity
نویسندگان
چکیده
We derive a closed-form expression for the capacity of the additive-Gaussian-noise memoryless channel with binary input. The capacity expression that we obtain contains an infinite series. Truncation of the series -for computation reasonsat an odd or even number of terms results in a lower or upper, respectively, bound on the channel capacity; we prove that the tightness of the bound increases monotonically with the number of terms that are included in the truncated series. Numerical results confirm that, as long as at least the first six terms of the series are calculated, the corresponding lower or upper bound becomes indistinguishable from the exact channel capacity. Therefore, with small computational complexity we obtain accurately the capacity of the Gaussian channel with binary input. Capacity Bounds and High-SNR Capacity of the Additive Exponential Noise Channel With Additive Exponential Interference
Communication in the presence of a priori known interference at the encoder has gained great interest because of its many practical applications. In this paper, additive exponential noise channel with additive exponential interference (AENC-AEI) known non-causally at the transmitter is introduced as a new variant of such communication scenarios. First, it is shown that the additive Gaussian ch...
متن کاملThe Feedback Capacity of the First-Order Moving Average Gaussian Channel
The feedback capacity of the stationary Gaussian additive noise channel has been open, except for the case where the noise is white. Here we obtain the closed-form feedback capacity of the first-order moving average additive Gaussian noise channel. Specifically, the channel is given by Yi = Xi +Zi, i = 1, 2, . . . , where the input {Xi} satisfies a power constraint and the noise {Zi} is a first...
متن کاملEstimation of Noise and Interfering Power for Transmissions over
The topic of the paper is the evaluation by the receiver of the power of noise and co-channel interferences altering transmissions over Rayleigh fading channels. In our study we display results for TDMA mobile radio systems such as GSM or EDGE, but the approach is valuable for CDMA as well. We propose two methods to carry out the evaluation of the signal to noise ratio (SNR) or the carrier to i...
متن کاملRayleigh Fading Multiple Access Channel Without Channel State Information
In this paper we determine bounds of the capacity region of a two-user multiple-access channel with Rayleigh fading when neither the transmitters nor the receiver has channel state information (CSI). We assume that the fading coefficients as well as the additive noise are zero-mean complex Gaussian and there is an average power constraint at the channel input for both senders. Results that we g...

A new Galois field GF ( 2 ) structure for designing recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) encoders is presented in this article. The proposed RSC encoders are used as components of a parallel-concatenated Turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM) scheme. The GF ( 2 ) RSC encoders include a nonlinear function named leftcirculate (LCIRC), which is performing a left circulation over the N bits repr...
